Wyoming legislators considering "big stick" approach to dropout prevention

As advocates for an all-hands-on-deck approach to fighting the dropout epidemic, we applaud anyone who wants to do something to keep students in school.

But a proposed bill in Wyoming, where legislators are proposing a "big stick" approach to dropout prevention, does nothing to address the root causes of Wyoming’s dropout epidemic.

Rather, the bill would only serve to make life harder for those who are already fighting an uphill battle by taking away driver’s licenses of those who leave school early.

At NoDropouts.org, we strongly urge the Wyoming legislature to address the issues that are truly contributing to one of the nation’s lowest graduation rates — by providing at-risk students the flexibility, accessibility and support they need to finish their studies.
